Vintage Design
Inlaid Pentecostal desk, mainly in Mahogany, Amaranth and Rosewood, Regency / Louis XV period.
By definition, it is composed of a sloping top, which here sees its contours moved and discreetly moulded. Once unfolded, this flap forms a worktop covered with a brown leather top, decorated with a central label, corner finials, gilded friezes and a hard background. The interior, in solid Walnut, offers a multitude of niches, trap doors and drawers of various sizes. The latter, some of which are arranged in gradations, all have fronts with fretwork cut-outs.
Underneath, this piece of furniture offers two drawers, separated by a fixed part pretending to be a third one.
Note that the three main openings of this desk are lockable and are provided with original lock entries accompanied by their current keys.
The top, the flap as well as the modestly curved sides of this piece of furniture are embellished with Butterfly Wing Marquetry, underlined by Amaranth surrounds. The drawer fronts of the belt drawers are decorated with similar motifs.
The unit rests on four curved legs, finished with Bronze Clogs.
This Sloping Desk and its three centuries of history can boast a perfect state of conservation and thank a fine restoration work. Moreover, thanks to its four decorated sides, this piece of furniture can be installed against a wall or in the middle of a room.
