A charming and very well executed late 18th century Provincial Louis XV style fireplace in Calacatta and Breche Violette marbles. The jambs with paneled Breche Violette and fine carved scrolled Acanthus supporting a serpentine frieze again paneled in richly variegated Breche Violette with carved scroll and shell in between. The centre medallion Breche within a carved frame of scrolled acanthus. The shelf following the moulding on is edge of the carvings on the frieze. A superior quality and fine example of this style of fireplace.
