Michael THONET, master woodworker and furniture designer was born in Germany July 21, 1796 and died March 3, 1871. In 1853 he transmits his company to his son 5; then it is called “THONET Brothers”
In 1855, he invented the revolutionary technique of bending wood by autoclave, enabling the achievement of stronger and cheaper furniture. At his death, he is considered one of the leading designers of our time.
