Vintage Design
Very rare side chair with beautiful geometrically shaped seat and backrest. Beautifully crafted frame and newly upholstered seat and rest in an Art Deco style thick red upholstery, with a subtle silvery shine. This is one of the very few pieces of furniture that are left from this Dutch furniture maker. Laurens Groen came from the town of Alkmaar, to the north of Amsterdam, and worked alongside Theo van Doesburg and Piet Zwart; two of the most renowned Dutch art-deco designers. There’s a very similar chair in the Central Museum of Arts and Design in Utrecht, Netherlands.
