Rare Antique Sculptural Folk Art Powder Blue Painted Twig Table, Circa Late 19th Century. Constructed from a solid painted pine top with elongated naturally formed wood branch legs. Each leg is arranged to support the top, crossing the leg below and joined at the middle. This table took true skill and artistry to produce, a one-of-a-kind piece of functional sculpture. Areas of slight paint loss show at least 5 layers of paint, helping to display the table’s history. Sourced from the eastern coast of Canada, it’s also possible that the legs of this piece could have been formed from found driftwood. A very rare example of Folk Art.
Condition: Excellent antique condition considering its age and use. Small areas of paint loss as detailed in photos. One fissure through top painted surface, that does not affect the stability or look of the piece. A slight slant to the table, as originally produced.
